How do I know which long distance plan is the cheapest?
Once you tell us a little bit about your current calling habits, we'll show you a list of all of the long distance plans that can save you money over your current plan. At the top of the list will be the company that can save you the most money. This will be followed by other plans that can also save you money. Because money may not be the only factor in your switching decision, we provide other information such as carrier quality ratings so you can make the right choice for your individual needs.

What are the differences between the long distance plans on your site?
There are a lot of little differences between the plans that you may not notice just by looking at them - that's why the SmartPrice.com site was created in the first place! The rates and fees will vary slightly from plan to plan, even with plans from the same company. For example, two plans may have the same exact in-state rate but have different out-of-state rates or different billing increments.

One of the most important things to know is that not all plans are created equal, though, and SmartPrice.com will help you find the best plan for your needs.

How is the "estimated monthly bill" calculated?
If you start with our Savings Finder tool and tell us that you do not make international calls, we take your average monthly bill and the profile you selected and assume that you're paying an industry average per-minute rate. We can then calculate the approximate number of long distance minutes you call each month, and apply those minutes to your new plan to calculate what your new "estimated monthly bill" would be with the other plans on our site.

If you tell us you are a small business or that you make international calls, you'll give us your average monthly bill and the number of long distance minutes you call each month, and you'll pick a calling profile. We use your profile and the number of minutes you call to calculate what your new "estimated monthly bill" will be with the other plans on our site.

How does SmartPrice.com calculate the "Quality Rating?"
The SmartPrice.com™ rating system uses a five star indicator to rate the long distance companies listed on our site. This five star rating system is based on the FCC's Complaint Indices for IXCs Served 20 or More Complaints, which is published every six months and can be found on the FCC web site.

SmartPrice.com has focused upon entering into agency agreements with high quality carriers that receive few FCC complaints. Therefore, all of the carriers on our site qualify for a SmartPrice.com™ five star rating.

In the future, SmartPrice.com will be adding the capability for you to rate and comment upon the service you have received from both SmartPrice.com and the carriers we represent.
